    Georgina Newton

    CO-FOUNDER OF SCHOOLGENIE

Georgina Newton spent 11 years as Associate Professor at the University of Warwick and has had a long career as a teacher, working internationally and in large comprehensive secondary schools in the North West and Midlands.

She has researched why teachers leave the profession and what could be done to keep them and has presented her research findings widely. As a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Teaching Profession, Founding Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and a member of the Ethical Forum she works nationally to advocate for teachers.

Currently as Deputy Director of Education for the Coventry Diocese Board of Education, she works with over 70 schools, seeking to ensure that every school is where pupils and teachers can flourish.

Having seen the changes their approach has brought to school culture and well-being, she is convinced that “every school needs its leaders to have the “genie skills”.

    Chris Spriggs

    SCHOOLGENIE ASSOCIATE

Christopher brings 25 years experience of working in the learning and development field, with a particular focus on coaching senior leaders across a diverse range of education providers, in the NHS and with the voluntary sector.

His approach is to bring ‘mental oxygen’ for leaders immersed in complexity and facing multiple pressures in the systems where they lead. Informed by the pioneering work of Nancy Kline, with whom he trained, he co-creates environments which enable people to think independently, effectively, collaboratively and expansively.

Alongside a Masters in Coaching from the University of Warwick, he has a background in trauma-informed practice and anchors his approach in compassion and mindfulness.

Christopher is on the teaching faculty for the coaching programmes at the University of Warwick, the founder of Lifespace Trust (an award-winning young people's mental health charity), and the author of 5 books.
